#takebackBritain is all about moving away from the online space and into the real world.

We’ll still use social media of course. But social media doesn’t always bother Westminster.

And we want to bother them.

#takebackBritain was born out of a call to arms – a call to protest in the streets – a call to march.

And thousands heeded that call.

Some supporters voiced concern: did previous marches work? With Covid rife, is marching in large numbers even safe? What about those who can’t travel for reasons of health, age, work, caring for others, etc? (Unsurprisingly, many of those most affected by the regime’s callousness are the least able to protest.)

But marching does rattle the cage. Marching tends, in the long run, to prove who’s on the right side of history.

So we must march. We must continue to build momentum so that, when we march, our numbers are overwhelming, and our collective roar cannot be ignored. Given the chaotic trajectory our country is on, and hardening attitudes, this “tipping point” may arrive sooner than anyone thinks, Covid or no Covid. We must be ready.

But we don’t have to wait. Centralised marching is only one tool at our disposal.

We can protest locally. We can protest in groups of any size. Above all we can, and we must, be inventive and creative in our tactics.

Working alongside existing groups and campaigns, #takebackBritain will be proposing and organising a range of activities in coming weeks.

I will contact supporters directly by email so that our actions can be well-timed, coordinated and perhaps surprising.

Meanwhile, ask friends and loved ones to join us. In this initial phase, it’s all about gathering our support. Thank you for playing your part and fighting the fight.

PS Small tease: as well as campaigning, we have a big fat fun event in mind for the spring. Something positive and inspiring.
